What To Expect
Coming for counselling can be a daunting experience, so it helps to know a little of what to expect.
Our first session will incorporate an initial assessment, which isn’t as intimidating as it may sound. As part of our conversation together we will talk about what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. During this time you are also able to ask me questions about the approach I use and the way I work, so that you can assess if you would like to continue working with me.
Our work together is a partnership. You bring yourself and all the knowledge you have about you and I bring my skills and knowledge of counselling; together we work to reach your desired outcomes.
Counselling sessions with me last 1 hour and usually clients have 1 session once a week. This timescale often fits in nicely with other aspects of client’s lives and gives you time to process the previous session. Meeting regularly and consistently can help you get the best from therapy but I do understand that at times this may not be possible and I try to be as flexible as possible with my clients.
